Valencia Center Treats Alcohol, Fentanyl, Meth & Prescription Drug Addiction in PHP & IOP, With Relapse Prevention Groups & Telehealth Across California
SANTA CLARITA, CA, UNITED STATES, November 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — With October traditionally observed as National Substance Abuse Prevention Month, clinicians at Santa Clarita Behavioral Health, an outpatient center in Valencia, are encouraging adults in the Santa Clarita Valley to seek help for drinking or drug use early, before it progresses to a more severe disorder. In 2025, 44.6 million people aged 12 or older had a substance use disorder in the past year, according to SAMHSA’s National Survey on Drug Use and Health.
The center’s addiction treatment is for adults addicted to alcohol, benzodiazepines, fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, painkillers or prescription drugs. These clients attend their own partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs, kept apart from the center’s mental health and eating disorder programs. PHP runs six hours a day, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and includes two individual therapy sessions a week. Clients who no longer need six hours a day can move to the intensive outpatient program, which meets three hours a day, three to five days a week, from 9:00 a.m. to noon or from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. IOP clients go home after each session, and the rest of the day stays open for work and family.
Relapse prevention and addictive thinking are among the group topics, along with CBT, DBT, ACT and trauma-informed therapy. Clients with a mental health condition alongside a substance use disorder, such as depression with alcohol addiction or bipolar disorder with meth addiction, receive dual diagnosis care, in which clinicians treat both conditions at the same time with a focus on trauma. Each client sees a psychiatrist in the first week, and medication management continues as needed, including medication to help with cravings.
A written treatment plan is in place within three days, and staff update it weekly. The therapist, case manager, recovery mentor and psychiatric team assigned to a client stay with that person from PHP through IOP and into weekly therapy. Graduates can attend periodic alumni check-ins and annual gatherings.
Clients anywhere in California can attend by telehealth, and hybrid schedules combine in-person and virtual days. The center is accredited by the Joint Commission and has served more than 1,500 clients. It is in network with most major carriers, among them Aetna, Anthem, Beacon Health Options, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Blue Shield of California, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna, ComPsych, Curative, Health Net, Kaiser Permanente, Magellan Health, Managed Health Network (MHN), Motion Picture Industry Health Plan (MPI), Optum, SAG-AFTRA Health Plan, Sharp Health Plan, Sutter Health, Tricare, Tricare Reserve Select, TriWest, UMR, and UnitedHealthcare. The admissions team answers calls 24/7. Benefits checks are free and done the same day, and treatment can begin within 24 hours.
